I really like to sit tight on my OSX when it’s running solid and I do a ton of work for my production company. My home rig is more or a pre-production rig, but still very important to my work. X only runs on Mountain Lion or above, so an upgrade was in the cards. Yes, I know Pro Tools 10 is not qualified on Mavericks and you have to manually uninstall if needed. This was still not right. I hopped online and noticed the kernel task issue with non-DAW users.

This was not the case for me. I still tried everything in the book, and through trial and error figured it out. It turns out the problem is with the AVID drivers for the or family. Only the drivers that were These drivers are lighting up firewire and creating the kernel task issue. I then decided to load the Avid driver When I select the device, all is good.

Well, almost all is good. When I use driver My problem now? When I launch Logic X, it will not output any sound on Avid driver Remember, I have to use this driver because the version 11 drivers kill my CPU. It’s frustrating because I’m soooo close. Everything is great, but no sound out of Logic X.

X locks up great to my rack and syncs up with ADAT. Hurry up Apple and send me my darn download code. If any of you have had any other experiences please let me know. Please, check your activity monitor and look at your CPU usage. I would venture to say some of you aren’t even aware of this problem. Your rig will still run fine, but check out your activity monitor and just check. Keep on creating peeps. Hopefully, I made sense and it will help some of you. If you have any further advice for me, shoot away.

Peace out. Robert Randolph. With the Also note that the I fought with this issue and I eventually gave up on my non-hd system. The old drivers suck, and the new drivers suck. The only way to get it stable is to run everything on Snow Leopard, and that was not an option for me. Hmmmm, you mean when I want to use it with Logic X? Yeah, well I already bought Mountain Lion, so at least I will have that now too. What OSX are you on? And yes, the Digi drivers suck.

Yeah, if you want to use it with CoreAudio which LPX uses , you have to make sure you start your system with the on and connected. I do think Avid is ‘going down’. That’s why I abandond PT totally 2 months ago. Both my Hd and non-hd rigs, gone. It’s unfortunate, because when they worked they were quite awesome. I’m still working on that. I’ve tried everything so far and the only thing that seems to be on par with PT in regards to audio editing, key commands and and session management is LPX.

Presonus FaderPort 8. Behringer X-Touch. Mackie Control. ICON Digital. Avid S1. Though control surfaces such as the FaderPort are all very good in their own right, many lack a sense of charm that a motorised 8 fader control surface from the past had in spades being the mighty Digidesign Digi Factory.

In this video, we show you a selection of Digi operations. I consider the Digi Factory to be the best motorised 8 fader control surface for Pro Tools of all time. After the Digi range of Digidesign audio interfaces and control surfaces were discontinued by Avid, a gap in the market opened up for third-parties to release their own takes on an 8 fader compact control surface. The top products available to us today, listed earlier, are all proof that these types of control surfaces are in fact quite popular in the audio production industry, but I feel none of them really captured the essence of the Digi , which I think is a real shame.

Had to ditch my console when I got my 7,1. I found this video below to get the driver installed manually and it worked, but the would make pro tools. I bought the upgrade to 8 as my mac mini will only use I prefer rack gear to consoles due to the need for mobility. The price point on both are good, but theese unit on ther stock configuration are not best sounding interface that’s why I suggest the rack because it could be modifed by Black lion audio, either or they are great purchase if you are trying to move up to pro tools 8, another thing all with serial number that end with A or B will suffer the power harness syptoms just make sure you get a transfer of ownership form and fax it to avid right away because they will ship you a new power harness in a few days.

Good luck to you. My Studio. To run on leopard you need 7. With the rack versions you can still use control surfaces, I use a bcf with my r no worries. Does anyone know if the digi console is able to be connected to the digi rack to essentially expand the inputs from 8 to 16? It can also do 2 channels of spdif for a total of 18 inputs. Nelson S. I use PT You have use a different driver for the which you can download.

My Digi R runs very happily with PT Jan 1, AM. Question: Q: logic pro and digidesign More Less. Community Get Support. Sign in Sign in Sign in corporate. Browse Search. Ask a question. Question: Q: Question: Q: logic pro and digidesign Hi everyone. More Less. They are expected to release compatible software in the next month. Until then, you may have to use a different interface for Logic. Sorry it took me a bit to respond, but yes, Silver is right. You will not be able to use your until they come out with PT 7.

It could be next week or next month And then remember Logic is really going to give Digi a run for their money. I have been a Logic user for 2 years now and I used to hate it. Our university has strayed away from PT because we are taught that a DAW is just a fancy tape machine. You need to understand signal flow first then get to know the DAW. With L8, signal flow is very clear and you can’t beat the price. I do have a PT rig and I purchased it to get ready for my career.

The studios I assist in both run HD systems and it is crucial that you know PT in this modern industry. I have to say though Logic is really becoming my DAW of choice both in tracking and editing. It also helps that one of my professors wrote the Apple training book for Advanced Logic practice Thanks so much for your response.

I was thinking of getting an apogee duet for the mac when I want to record instruments one at a time what I usually do and keeping the so I can use it with both PT and Logic when needed. PT has definitely upset me in the past and I always dealt with it because I figured I had to.
